ETHIOPIA: Travel Diary - What an Honour!

Today we had lunch at the late Emperor Haille Sellassie's Palace in Bahar Dar. The Palace is closed to the public, and guarded by men with AK47's. No one is allowed in. None of the Ethiopians who were with us today had ever set foot beyond the gates. You will not find a single picture on the internet that has not been taken from outside the walls. What a blessing, what a privilege!
We were given the honour of having lunch on Haille Sellasies porch, we ate where His Majesty Haille Selassie, a.k.a. Ras Tafari, the god head of
Rastafarianism, the hero of the Ethiopian people ate, and slept and ruled! I am humbled by the fact that for some reason we were afforded this honour! Only the prime minister and his aids are usually allowed in . . . we got served a buffet on the veranda. I still don't grasp how and why . . .
